TGIF!!! Yes it is Friday, June 5, 2009 and the “old farts” are in paradise.
We awoke early this morning to our beautiful ocean view, swaying palms, and warm temperatures. We went to Chip our very friendly and very persuasive concierge and signed up for some great sounding excursions. Stay tuned to the blog for more details and descriptions.
We set out to explore the north end of the island this afternoon. Incredibly beautiful blue/green Pacific Ocean was at our display. We pulled over onto several road side stops to appreciate the scenery. Along our way we spotted Honolua Bay, saw several nice boats anchored off the beach and some snorkelers paddling around. We made our way down to the water and spent a wonderful hour or so paddling over the coral and seeing lots of fish of varying shapes, sizes and description. Clear warm water that was very calm and good for swimming.
We spent the evening in the town of Lahaina, walked along Front Street, the main drag, and had a nice dinner at Bubba Gumps, where we watched the sun make its evening journey into the ocean.
Early to bed! Tomorrow we rise to catch the sun rise from Halaekala.
